Level 6: Boiling Point

  1. Pressure Plates

    Stepping here will aggravate a roachling (south) and an assault guardian (north). Even if you can, do not kill them immediately. As they step on the respective pressure plates in their attempt to reach you, they will close the pits that are blocking access into their cages.
  2. Advanced Umbrella Field Generator

    In this chest are an Advanced Umbrella Field Generator, a Tech Fuse, and a note. Go south, eliminate a shock spider, then head west.
  3. Crate

    Use this crate to block the steam leaking out from the pipe to the south. Then look carefully at the top of the central wall panel on the south wall here. Click the knob to open the secret wall.
  4. Secret #13

    In the cabinet here are Thornshield, a Circuit Upgrade, a Repair Kit, and some ammunition.
  5. Ammunition

    This chest only contains some ammunition and a note.
  6. Assault

    In this room you will have to take down three cannon turrets and while you are doing so, a shock spider and a spiderling will scamper in from behind (they spawn when you go anywhere east of this point).
  7. Advanced Blowtorch

    Open this chest for an Advanced Blowtorch and a note.
  8. Pressure Plate

    This pressure plate closes the entry door. Even if you don’t step on it, a spiderling will emerge from the alcove and weigh it down, locking you in. It will be soon joined by another spiderling (south) and an assault guardian (west).
  9. Button

    Examine the wall here to find a tiny button just above the lamp. Press it to open a secret wall.
  10. Secret #14

    This chest has a two-handed hammer called Ram, an Advanced Drainer, and a Repair Kit.
  11. Pressure Plate

    This pressure plate causes all three fireball traps in the corridor to release three fireballs each. Weigh it down and immediately step out of the way. You can proceed once the situation is quiet again. You can retrieve your item on the way out if you wish.
  12. Rusty Key

    Take the Rusty Key and phonodiary from this chest.
  13. Levers and Buttons

    To open both the eastern and western doors and close both pits, pull the northwestern lever (opens a pit), press the southwestern button (opens a door and closes its pit), pull the southeastern lever (opens a door and its pit), press the northeastern button (reverses the last action), and pull the southeastern lever again (opens the door without opening the pit).
    Step on the western pressure plate to open the northern door and close the southern one. On the way back, step on the eastern pressure plate to reverse this.
  14. Toughness Fuse

    In this chest is a Toughness Fuse and a note.
  15. Lever

    This lever will not only reopen the exit out of this southeastern complex, but also open two walls, releasing a roachling and an acid roach. This battle should be easy by now, but if you want, you can lock them in this room by rushing out and stepping on the eastern pressure plate. Either way, you need to step on that pressure plate, and wind your way back past 8 to 6 (and therefore 16).
  16. Keyhole

    Use the Rusty Key here to open the locked door.
  17. Secret #15

    Blocking your way to here is a cannon turret. Once you’ve destroyed it, simply arriving here counts as a secret (as against blocking the turret off with the nearby crate). The chest holds Insulated Treads and Afflux Headgear.
  18. Tougness Fuse

    Say hello to a shock spider on the way here, and have a cup of tea with the two roachlings in this room. The chest has a Tougness Fuse, a phonodiary, and a note.
  19. Coal

    Break the crates and barrels on the adjacent tile to reveal a button. Press it to raise this chest out of the floor, and take the lump of Coal from it. Now return east to explore the remaining northeast quadrant of the level.
  20. Lever

    Amazingly enough, it is actually possible to reach this lever unhurt without pausing time. I have never been able to avoid the fireballs with time paused. Pull the lever to close the pit to its north, then time your way around.
  21. Secret #16

    Look carefully for a small black button on the iron beam between the gratings. It will open the secret wall to this chest. The chest contains a Heavy Cannon and some ammunition.
  22. Lever

    Use this lever to close the second pit.
  23. Ingots

    Take the Ingots and phonodiary from this chest. You can leave this horrible room now. Whew.
  24. Pressure Plate

    This pressure plate, which opens a wall, can be pressed either by you or a nearby roachling. Another roachling will join in from the alcove that opens. A third will be on the way to 25.
  25. Resources

    You may find the Repair Kit and Energy Cell in this chest useful.
  26. Veteran Shield

    Kill the acid roach, then look in this chest for a Veteran Shield, a phonodiary, and a note.
  27. Levers

    Take care of the two shock spiders, then turn your attention to the levers. While facing the levers, flip them in this order: right, middle, left, middle, right. This will start the pumps. Leave the room and return south and west.
  28. Lever

    This lever will be active only after the pumps have been turned on.
  29. Crate

    Push this crate out into the central chamber, where a pit has opened up.
  30. Boiler

    Shove the coal into the boiler, pull the lever to start it up, then return to Level 5.
