Map of Keelbreach Bog
  1. Supplies You’ll find two Rocks and a Torch here.
  2. Letter A tree hollow here holds a Letter.
  3. Moving Windgate A windgate constantly cycles southwards to the pressure plate. If you attempt to follow it, it will eventually catch up and push you back out. Instead, shoot a projectile at the correct moment for it to land on the pressure plate. This will open the gate at 4. Be careful: if not timed correctly, the windgate will push the projectile back out, hurting party members in the back row. To improve your chances of success, you can run a couple of tiles into the tunnel (following the windgate) and shoot your projectile just before you are teleported out.
This puzzle can be avoided by swimming into the bog instead of using the path.
  4. Closed Gate This gate can be opened by weighing down the pressure plate beyond the moving windgate (3). Deeper in the bog, watch out for frogs. Not only are they are relatively hardy creatures, they can steal an item from any party member’s hands at regular intervals, and can also leap behind you. Try to get in as much damage as you can from a distance. Frogs are vulnerable to lightning.
  5. Launch Point Shoot projectiles west from here to first destroy a bush that is blocking access to the pressure plate, and then to weigh down the pressure plate. This will activate a windgate at 7. Jump down to find a Borra once you can see the windgate.
  6. Venom Edge Among the grass here is a dagger named Venom Edge.
  7. Windgate Once activated by weighing down the pressure plate near 8, you can walk into this windgate to be transported there.
  8. Secret #19 On the pedestal here is a Shaman’s Cloak. Jump back down into the pit and use the ladder to continue exploring the rest of the bog.
  9. Shield Down here you’ll find a Round Shield, an Antivenom potion, and a Torch.
  10. Stairs Down Walk down these stairs to the Herder’s Den. We’ll get a Power Gem from there before continuing around the bog.
  1. Path from the Forgotten River.
  2. Waterway from the Forgotten River.

Herder’s Den

Map of Herder's Den
  1. Chest Wind your way around and battle through several herders to this chest. It holds a Battle Axe, a Map, and a Mine Key. The key will be needed at 4.
  2. Pickaxe Here lies a Pickaxe. Though it looks like a tool, it serves no special purpose. It’s just a regular (fairly poor) weapon.
  3. Secret #20 On the two pedestals here are an Iron Basinet and an Antivenom potion.
  4. Locked Gate Use the Mine Key from 1 to open this gate.
  5. Timepiece A Timepiece rests on this pedestal. You will now see the passage of time while you rest or dig, and can also check the current time. It may prove useful for one puzzle much later, but is otherwise not very valuable.
  6. Runemaster’s Trial You need to treat these pressure plates as though they are your spellcasting runes rotated 90° clockwise (i.e., straight up while looking at 7). You have to weigh down the pressure plates of the runes that match the spells being cast at 7: Fireball (red crosses), Ice Shards (blue crosses), and Lightning Bolt (purple crosses). Doing all three in the correct order will open the gate to 7.
  7. Serpent Staff The shelf here holds a Serpent Staff. It is extremely poor as a melee weapon, but you’ll need it to enter the Pyramid of Umas, and twice more in the Tomb or Rites, so hold on to it.
Next to it are Bread and a Mudwort.
  8. Boss Fight Going in here will close the gate behind you. You will have to destroy six spore pods (marked 9 on the map), which continuously spawn herders. The gate will re-open when all the spore pods are dead. If you feel up to it, you can leave a pod or two alive to farm xp, but remember that you won’t be able to access the Crystal of Life until the challenge is over. Farmers will benefit from this too as you will be able to collect lots of herder caps. You may want to prepare a few Antivenom and Healing potions before going in. You can also destroy one pod from outside the gate with spells and ranged weapons.
  9. Spore Pods These markers are coloured differently only to highlight them. There are no elevation changes in the den.
  10. Power Gem #6 You’ll be able to pick up a Power Gem here.
  11. Sack A Sack here contains a recipe for Potions of Bear Form, a Mudwort, and an Etherweed.
  12. Lock Picks A set of Lock Picks awaits you here.
  13. Pellets You’ll find 10 Pellets here.
  14. Sack This Sack contains three Fire Bombs, a Crystal Shard of Healing, and a Hub Key. The key will activate the windgate from Keelbreach Bog to the Hub.
  15. Pellets 10 more Pellets can be picked out from the grass here.
  16. Skull #2 A Skull stares back at you from the grass here.
  17. Pellets The last box of 10 Pellets lies here. With the Power Gem and Hub Key in your backpack, you can now return to Keelbreach Bog (A), after healing up at the crystal if you wish.
  1. Stairs from Keelbreach Bog.

  1. Closed Gate Buttons on either side of the gate will open it. Head all the way north to 12, picking up a Falconskyre on the way.
  2. Secret #21 To open the gate to this chest, you’ll need to weigh down the pressure plate in the water to the north. The chest contains four Crossbow Quarrels, three Lightning Bombs, and a Torch.
  3. Drop Point Jump down here to reach 14.
  4. Treasure #5 Dig up this locked treasure chest for a Crystal Shard of Recharging and a Torch. Then jump down once more to 15.
  5. Lock Picks You’ll find Lock Picks under this bridge. Climb out, pick up the Blooddrop Cap, climb out once more, then return north.
  6. Windgate Walk into this windgate to be transported to the secluded plot of land to the west.
  7. Pellets You’ll find 10 Pellets here.
  8. Treasure #6 Dig up a chest at this spot to find a Crystal Shard of Recharging, a Horned Fruit, and a Thraelm Tribal Buckler.
  9. Power Gem #7 Approaching the Power Gem will cause several Zarchtons to jump out from the water. Defeat them all, then pick up your prize. You can return east via the windgate, or jump into the water to climb the ladder on the opposite bank. The only way to reach the southwestern peninsula is to walk all the way south, jump in the water near the ladder there (avoiding the extremely deep pond in the middle), and climb up to the bank on the west. Since we will exit this map from that peninsula, it’s better to explore the riverbed first. There are extremely few fish in the water, but there are no aquatic enemies.
  10. Wooden Box In the very deep pond here lies a Wooden Box containing two Poison Bombs, a Broadhead Arrow, and a pair of Shoes. The only way out of this pond is the ladder to the north.
  11. Lock Picks Here is a set of Lock Picks.
  12. Leather Boots You’ll find Leather Boots here.
  13. Pellets 10 Pellets are sitting out in the open at this spot. Remember to insert the Hub Key to activate the windgate nearby.
  14. Reflexus All twelve levers in this puzzle need to be pointing down to open the gate to 25. However, they are not all independent; one lever may also toggle another. Set the easternmost and westernmost levers down first, then flip down the interior levers, followed by the southern ones.
  15. Power Gem #8 Once you have access to this location, you’ll be able to pick up a Power Gem that’s floating here. Now that you have four Power Gems, head all the way east.
  16. Pellets You’ll find 10 more Pellets here.
  17. Shrine of Earth Place the four Power Gems on the table to transform them into an Essence of Earth. Now return all the way west and take the windgate (B) to the Hub to offload dead weight. From there, you can place the essence on a pedestal in the Castle Nex courtyard (14), and wind your way to the northwest to reach Sleet Island (F). Obviously, you could also walk to the Forgotten River, especially if you first came here via the waterway.
  1. Path from the Forgotten River.
  2. Hub windgate, activated with a Hub Key from the Herder’s Den.
  3. Waterway from the Forgotten River.
