- Mr. Peel saw a boy with a gym bag trying to get in the back of Shredd’s while the shop was closed for lunch.

- William Briggs’ nickname is Shorty. He is 5'1" and weighs 175 pounds.

- Mr. Washington caught a glimpse of the gunman in the bank mirror. He said the gunman’s hair was brown.

Runaway Reptile
- Watson could not have left the treehouse on his own when it was cold outside. Reptiles don’t like the cold.
- A piece of blue yarn is snagged on a nail outside the headquarters window.
- The treehouse window is very high off the ground. Whoever came in that way to steal Watson must be a very good tree climber.

Mysterious Monster
- Willy Barr says he thought he saw the monster, and pointed it out to Mark. He says Mark saw it, too, and described it very clearly. He says the monster was only about 50 feet from the shore.
- Sailboats sail near Buccaneer Beach, cruising several hundred feet off shore.
- Steve Shredd says he thought he might have seen a long-necked monster for an instant, but he isn’t sure. He heard the creature give off a loud whine or whistle.
- Professor Krank was at the beach, but all he saw was a blimp flying by.
- A big helium-filled balloon was blown away from a parade at the state capital this morning. It was shaped like the long-necked cartoon character…

Rock Ripoff
- One bird sculpture is of a roc, a giant mythical bird…
- Mr. Griffin says he would know if anyone put a fake roc sculpture on display.
- The woman who carved the mythical creatures put her signature on each one of her sculptures.
- The artist’s signature on the roc sculpture reads By Julie Eriksdotter. It is scratchy and hard to read.
- The artist’s signatures on the dragon, unicorn and Pegasus sculptures are all spelled Judi Eriksdottir. The handwriting is smooth and easy to read.

Pilfered Pop
- Someone dropped a video game token by the cooler. It may have been the thief.
- Nancy found a flyer on our lawn that wasn’t there an hour ago. It’s an invitation to the girls softball league barbecue.
- Cheryl Hane gave Alex Hane five dollars to buy soda for the barbecue. She also asked him to hand out the flyers.
- The cola that Alex Hane brought to the barbecue are the same kind as the ones that were taken from the treehouse cooler.
- Dave Grant says that he and Alex had run out of money to play the video machines, but Alex found $5 and they used that to finish their games.

Ghastly Ghost
- Nicola told Mr. Starr she was too scared to come to work today.
- There is no sign of anything out of place or unusual at the theater. Everything is very clean and neat.
- A broom and dustpan are hung up neatly in the theater’s closet.
- When we talked to the girls on the softball team that Nicola coaches, they told us that at first Nicola said she would have to miss their game today. Then yesterday she said she would figure out a way to coach the game.
- Nicola says she had just started to clean the theater with broom and dustpan, when she saw the ghost. She says she dropped the broom and ran home. She didn’t tell Mr. Starr about the ghost until the morning.

Angry Arsonist
- The glass from the broken window at Grimes is broken outward. Whoever broke the window did from inside the shop.
- A used matchbook from Swanks Hotel was found at the scene of the fire.
- Mr. Grimes store was in a bad location for a novelty shop.
- Mr. Grimes recently bought a new shop that he plans to open next month.
- Chuck says he gave matches from Swanks Hotel to Mr. Grimes.

Crazy Compass
- Mark Moriarty says that his compass didn’t always point north, and that’s why he got lost on the survival trek.
- Mark’s compass is pointing steadily in one direction.
- Mark Moriarty asked Sgt. Morrow if he could go to the Pisa Pizza fair today instead of going on his survival trek. Sgt. Morrow said no.
- Mr. Carrichi says that the Explorer Club left for its survival trek before the Pizza Fest started.
- Danny, the cook at Pisa Pizza, says that Mark ate three times his share at the Pizza Fest today.

Midnight Masquerade
- Nancy says she saw someone in a big black cape steal a ruby necklace during the masquerade party at Mrs. Harper’s house.
- Police tests for fingerprints show the thief wore gloves.
- We found a white chess piece on the floor outside Mrs. Harper’s room. She says it must have been dropped by the thief.
- At the party, the magician made chess pieces seem to disappear by cleverly hiding them in his hands or clothes.
- Mr. Rook, the magician, always wears a big black cape and white gloves for his magic performances.

Missing Mink
- Mr. Meniski says she asked Melinda Joost to feed the cats while she was out of town, and left a key to the house under the mat.
- Melinda Joost thought that Mrs. Meniski would not be back in town for two more days.
- There is a message on Melinda Joost’s desk from Sampson’s Fur Cleaners. The message says that a coat can be picked up tomorrow at 3pm.
- Mike Walker says he saw Melinda Joost leave Mrs. Meniski’s house yesterday with a large package.
- Melinda Joost went into Mrs. Meniski’s house yesterday morning with a big ice cream cone.

- Dave Grant says he was working out on the weight machine…
- Mark Moriarty says he spent some time working out his arms on the weight machine in the exercise room.
- The exercises on the weight machine have been set to a very difficult level. No student could have been exercising on the weight machine.
- Sergio and Mr. Poholsky used the exercise room right before the students did…
- Mr. Poholsky works in construction, and is very strong. When he uses the school’s weight machine, he adds all the weights, which makes the exercises very difficult to do.

Reappearing Recipe
- Mr. Carrichi’s recipe is written on an old, crumbling piece of yellow paper.
- Danny said he made pizza sauce this morning, and he put the recipe back in the safe after he was done.
- Mr. French says that he had to have Eddie go into the safe and take the week’s deposit to the bank for him.
- Mr. Green says that Eddie, the delivery man, brought the restaurant’s cash deposit in this week. The cash was wrapped in an old yellowed piece of paper that Eddie stuck in his pocket.
- Eddie said he used an old scrap of paper from the safe to wrap up the cash deposit before he took it to the bank.

- Mark and Dave said that there were very bright lights behind the alien they saw.
- Jay Lightfoot’s latest novel is all about aliens from outer space.
- Farmer Duffy says he lent his truck to Jay Lightfoot last night.
- Farmer Duffy’s truck has powerful searchlights on top. A receipt from Out Of This World Costume Supplies is on the front seat of the truck.
- A UFO sighting would be great publicity for Jason Lightfoot’s new book.

- A $75,000 diamond necklace was stolen from Medford’s Jewelry Shop. It was hidden in a secret safe, but the thieves knew right where it was.
- The person who robbed Medford’s Jewelers pried the door open with a crowbar.
- Mr. Poholsky says Jeff Miller installed the secret safe, and he spent lots of time making sure it was well hidden.
- Jeff Miller says he went for a long walk by himself last night…
- The tools stored at Dependable Construction include a crowbar.

Buried Booty
- The treasure map left by Colonel Blue says that Wraith Rock, Lone Tree, Liberty Tavern, and Harrison Hole are possible sites for the hidden treasure.
- Colonel Beau Blue was a soldier in the Confederate Army. He was killed in Richview at the end of the Civil War after hiding a strongbox of treasure somewhere in town.
- The Civil War began in April of 1861 and ended in April of 1865.
- President Andrew Jackson lived from 1767 to 1845. His nickname was Old Hickory.
- Lone Tree is an old hickory tree. It was planted in Richview in the early 1800s, before the Civil War.

- Ms. Lipper says Cheryl Hane was in Sweet Treats at least an hour, waiting for her brother Alex. She left about 6:00 p.m. because Alex never showed up.
- Alex Hane says he watched Fugitives From Space, a comedy movie at The Egyptian Theater, last night from 5:10 to 7:00. He says he really liked the whole film.
- Alex Hane says he learned the password from his sister, sometime today.
- Alex Hane has game notes on a piece of paper, written in red pen. On the back of the paper the word “marathon” is written in pencil.
- Last night’s showing of Fugitives From Space never happened -- the film broke.

- Farmer Duffy says both Dr. Knox and Mr. Arnold have keys to the locked cave gate.
- The most recent footprints leading to the cave were made by someone wearing big heavy boots. Inside, there are tracks made by someone wearing shoes with completely smooth soles.
- Many bats live in Farmer Duffy’s cave.
- Mrs. Arnold is a member of a wildlife club. She asked the Cave Crawlers to stop exploring in caves with bats in them, because they might drive the bats away. She was quite upset.

- Ms. Case is sure the Buddha was not in the suite when she inspected it with Mrs. Polaria earlier this evening.
- Chuck says that only Ms. Polaria, Chutney Miles, Mrs. Boran, Madame Wen and her daughter Mei went up to the Andrew Jackson Suite after Ms. Case inspected it.
- Chuck saw Mrs. Boran take three boxes up to the Andrew Jackson Suite in a little cart.
- Mr. Boran claims she had art for sale in the boxes she brought up to the suite. She says she did not buy or sell any art.
- Mr. Green said Mrs. Boran brought two boxes down on a little cart from the Andrew Jackson Suite.

- Wayne Gretzky paid over half a million dollars for a real Honus Wagner baseball card.
- Andy Hill says that Mark Moriarty bought a magazine with a color picture of the Wagner baseball card in it.
- Sometimes criminals make fake versions of valuable old drawings by copying them on real old paper. Some items are buried in the ground to make them look older.
- Mark Moriarty bought a 1910 tin box from Mrs. Meniski at her last yard sale. He also bought an old piece of cardboard that was in a box of magazines.
- Nicola Hamble says that Mark Moriarty made a color copy of a picture in a magazine, and printed it on an old piece of cardboard.

- Ms. Polaria says that Kiki perked up her ears just before she ran from the ring in the obedience trials.
- Nicola Hamble says that her dog Misha ran from the ring as if he were responding to al call, but she didn’t hear a thing.
- Professor Krank has created a robot dog named PICA…
- Professor Krank controls PICA with a silent dog whistle. He took him to the park earlier today to try him out.
- The three dogs that failed the obedience trials at the show were trained in field commands and the silent whistle by Mrs. Preston.

Baffling Bones
- The bones are half-buried in the ground a few feet from the fort. They are clean and white. There are no footprints nearby.
- The ad reads, ‘New this month! Complete Ice Age Human Skeletons!’ Someone has drawn a circle around the ad.
- Being buried in the ground a long time stains bones. White bones are either new, or are museum replicas.
- Because of the bones, the Mayor has stopped Mr. Green from clearing the vacant lot…
- Mr. Arnold’s garden is very near where the bones were found. The prize-winning bean plants he’s so proud of are growing in the vacant lot on which the bank plans to build senior apartments.

- Erik Vickor says he saw Kathy Bragg practicing the violin in Riverside Park today.

- Jackie King has a bright white baseball that he says is autographed by Babe Ruth. He says the ball is over 50 years old. He will sell it for $200.
- Andy Hill has an old, yellowed baseball autographed by Lou Gehrig, a famous slugger who played with Babe Ruth…
- Ms. Polaria says a real George Washington autograph would be worth hundreds of dollars.
