Dark Sun: Shattered Lands Walkthrough

36. Ssuran Ruins

Overhead map of the area inhabited by self-exiled ssurans

When you walk towards the ssurans at 2, the shaman will want to know your purpose for being here. Saying that we want treasure will anger him and make them all hostile. Ask why they are not in their village and the shaman will give you a story about spirits. Claim that you are here to destroy the spirits.

That will spawn 10 shadows at 3, which is good because we can target most of them with Turn Undead from a safe distance. Had we not spawned them already, they would have arisen and attacked when we pick up the ring at 3. Take El’s Ring from the ground when they are all defeated. It improves Dexterity by 3 on the wearer.

Reporting your success to the shaman will make them all hostile because apparently our spirits must replace the ones we destroyed (creatures in this region are a little crazy). There is no extra XP to be gained from telling the shaman of your success, so just open combat with a fireball on the whole group (they will all have moved to the open region within the walls to watch you defeat the shadows). If you don’t want to fight them, don’t go near them.

The magera at 4 will try to stop you from entering. You can opt to fight them, or you can convince them to let you enter if you say either that you were commanded to come here or that their leader summoned you. Follow that up with a threat of punishment and they will back down. All other dialogue paths lead to combat. Bellatrix still needs some XP to complete her last levels of Cleric and Psionicist, so I chose to fight them.

Walk into the open jaws of the skull to reach the Wyrm Belly.
