Dark Sun: Shattered Lands Walkthrough
35. Silt Sea North

As you can see from the flashing dots on the map, there are lots of strong guards around the western side of the map. If you want to avoid hostilities, keep responding to their threats with “Okay, I’ll leave” and keep walking towards 2, staying away from as many of them as you can (by following the western cliffside).
If you hang around or go directly towards a guard who has already threatened you, they will all go hostile. Of course, it’s more fun to fight and kill everyone. The drummers will not go hostile so there are actually far fewer guards to kill than is apparent at first. In fact, after finishing off the guards, you can force-attack the drummers one by one and the others will still not go hostile.
It’s also possible to bug out the guards and force-attack them one by one. This works sometimes, at other times they all go hostile when one is attacked.
35.1. Jasmine
Whichever way you choose, your objective is to retrieve the Grappling Hook
at 2 and return to 1. Once you’ve got it, use it on the broken bridge (by holding it on your mouse pointer) to pull the bridge up. There is nothing else of value on this map (yet), so zoom up to the island at 3. Free Jasmine (through dialogue) and, although not shown on screen, each party member will receive 1,000xp
.
This also causes ten Silt Horrors to spawn. They are not documented in the manual or cluebook, but they are tenth-level creatures, which is beyond the cap for this game. Dakaren will appear after they are dealt with. He’ll think Wyrmias sent us to kill him (which, in a way, he did), so let’s do that. Dakaren is also level 10, and killing him earns each party member 5,000xp
. Loot his body for the second piece of the statue
, a banana
, a pear
, and Shimmer Armor +3
, which grants a total of 4 AC and bestows Free Action on the wearer.
Talk to Jasmine, ask her for her spell book, and she’ll lead you to 4. She needs the book
handed over to Linara, but gifts us scrolls of Rainbow Pattern
and Minor Globe of Invulnerability
. Time to go deal with Wyrmias.
35.2. Wyrmias

Teleport to Gedron (rest and re-buff if you wish), and approach Wyrmias just south of 8. He will sense you have the statue pieces and demand them from you. Sure, dude. Hand them over, get the spell on the village released, and the party gets 4,000xp
. Wyrmias will now ask you to attack him. Okay, if he insists. Upon death, he takes the form of the statue that we just helped him repair. He says he’ll let us live for now… but will we return the kindness? Nuh-uh.
Attack the statue before it gets away (if you leave it alive it will join Draj in the final battle). The statue explodes upon death, and the body Wyrmias left behind has an orange
, orange grapes
and a guava
.

There is one more unexplored map in this region, but we will do that last. Getting Gedron to ally with Teaquetzl will set certain events in motion that we don’t want happening yet. Instead, rest up and teleport to the Red Sands Plateau, and turn in the mastyrial stinger to Notaku (4). Each party member gets 2,000xp
, and Notaku will throw in El’s Shield +2
(total +3 AC), an orange
and a lemon
.
You can complete the entire Gedron region including the Captured Gladiators and simply never speak to the war council in Teaquetzl to avoid getting the events in motion there. In fact, that will earn you some better armor before going ahead. I have chosen to go elsewhere only to prevent any unintentional pathfinding consequences.
The eastern exit at 8 will take you to the Ssuran Ruins.
