18. Wagon Train
A bunch of Magera have taken several villagers at 2 and 3 captive to turn them into slaves. There is no finesse here, just rampant massacre.

Go kill the magera at 2 (and only the magera, not the villagers—tempting as it is, don’t chuck a fireball). Speak to one of the prisoners and they’ll want to follow you to rescue their mates. As you approach 3, one of the magera will start advancing towards the prisoners after a short conference with his fellows. Don’t let him reach the villagers. Attack him, with a bow if need be (or better still, a magic missile), to initiate combat. When all the magera are defeated, each party member gets 3,000xp

18.1. First Allies
Speak to Kalinin, the only named villager, tell him you saved the villagers, then ask him to join your alliance, that you are collecting allies against Draj, and finally for him to wait at Teaquetzl. He will reward you with a +1 Hornblade
which is no different from Bloodwrath, but we can lug around less mundane swords, since our magical weapons won’t break.
A campfire will now appear at 4 if you want to rest.
Use the brown Rope-like Plant at 5 to fashion yourself a rope
. Each party member will get 200xp
. Walk across the bridge at 6 and you will be informed that you could lower yourself if you had a rope. That will take us to another part of the Temple Ruins, but we can’t do anything there as of yet. We’ll have to return here later. Fortunately the Red Sands Plateau obelisk is just next door, so to speak.
Leave this map the way you came at 1 (or teleport to the Red Sands Plateau), then exit the Red Sands Plateau to the north at 7 to reach the Sand Oasis.
